The mountainbike Scotland guidebook has, apparently, become a reality. We
have to exercise that caution. The process was fraught with all sorts of
obstacles and the latest one was the printer going into receivership. The poor
folk have gone down the tubes.
However, some enterprising individual has rescued the books and managed to
get them into this country. They are with the distributor now and we should
clamp our sweaty hands on a copy by Monday.
The fact remains that we don't have a PDF or a printer (at present) run off
any more. This will only be a problem if the current run sells out before we
can get the situation sorted.
Hope springs eternal eh?
Although it's what lies in the middle that counts here's an image of the
cover to help you recognise it if you see it in the shops.
If you can't see it in your local bookshop they can get it post free from

Please return to the site from time to time to see what else we will be
bringing to the table. As well as further guidebooks we hope to be moving into
events that will utilise our knowledge of Scotland's wilderness riding.
There will be none of that riding round and round a 10k loop stuff! Most of
the things we have lined up will see the riders committed to long days in
the saddle. While they will be supported by marshals and
feeding/watering/maintenence stations at fixed points they'll also be looked after on the course
by SMBLA qualified course patrollers.
However, the riders will still need to provide the power to get themselves
round 50-65-80 & 100k rides set out in a series throughout the year and all
over the country like a cheap suit.
They'll be staged progressively to allow riders to build up to the big one
at the end.
There will be prizes but these will simply be randomly awarded and will have
absolutely nothing, whatsoever, nada, niente, SFA to do with finishing
times.
The events will not be about competing with other riders nor will they be
about grim man (woman) against mountain. They will simply be about enjoying
mountain biking through Scotland's hills and glens with a big safety net
provided by us and the fun of being with like-minded folk. The routes will pass
through some of the country's finest landscapes and provide plenty of
singletrack action along their lengths and are sure to be popular.
We intend to restrict the fields to a relatively modest 200 riders for
environmental and logistical reasons.
If you've downloaded anything from our free dowloads page please remember
that this will expand soon and be updated on a regular basis. The attachments
included with this email are examples of the wallpapers available free from
the site. They have been supplied in 2 different width-height ratios to fit
into the common screen configurations. If you want higher res. copies please
drop us a line using the e-mail address supplied on the site.
As well as simple desktop wallpapers we will also be producing screensavers
to distract you from your work and make you wish you were riding the trails
shown on them. Great for Monday morning inspiration and motivation whenever
you can't get out.
